The Leagues of Women Voters of the Akron Area, Tallmadge, and Hudson invite the public to a free educational forum on standardized testing in our schools.

The Good the Bad the Ugly: State Mandated Testing Past, Present, and Future is a panel discussion, with these distinguished speakers scheduled to participate:

Barbara Brothers, Ph.D., Dean Emeritus, Youngstown State University and LWV Youngstown Education Committee Chair, who will give background on testing in Ohio.

Sarah Fowler, District 7 Ohio BOE member (which includes Akron and Tallmadge - Hudson in District 5) who will speak on the state's position on testing and pending changes to testing.

Jeff Ferguson, Superintendent of Tallmadge Schools, who will discuss the financial impact of testing on the schools.

Jesse Wray, technology writer and PhD candidate in Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology, speaking to the technological skills and preparation needed to take our current tests.

The goal of this program is to put testing in Ohio in its historical and policy context, highlighting the impact on schools, students and teachers. After the panelists have spoken on their area of expertise, there will be time for audience questions.
